FAMILY HISTORY Several members of the Royton Local History Society have formed a specific group devoted to researching their family backgrounds. The group is headed by Philip Ellis who has considerable experience in this interesting and absorbing field. Probate Records For probate purposes prior to 1858, Royton was in the Archdeaconry of Chester, in the Diocese of Chester.
